A Great Weekend of Bike Riding By: Wendy Lautner

The 7th Annual LUNA Chix Summit was, as always, a big success. Who can argue with a girls’ weekend off the hill riding bikes? Saturday was a bit of a wash - literally. The team geared up for a day of epic mountain biking that turned into an epic cold, muddy shower in pouring-down rain. We all agreed it was the hardest rain any of us had ever tried to ride in, but hey, at least we tried!

The extra energy we saved from not really going biking on Saturday paid off when we got to the photo booth on Saturday night at the LUNA dinner. See our Facebook page for details, it really was quite a riot.

Sunday the sun came out & we took to the trails in the Berkeley hills, pedaling through redwood forests and fern canyons. It was a good warm up ride for most of us who haven’t seen our pedals in awhile. We got a few good wipe outs of the way and had a lot of good laughs.

We’re looking forward to this season! In between biking, eating & taking silly photos we actually did do some planning for the 2012 season! We’ve got a cross country clinic with Katerina Nash set for June 5th, A Poker Ride scheduled for June 19th & a few road bike rides starting in May.

So, what’s new this year for the Tahoe team & LUNA in general? Here’s a few things I deem share-worthy:

1. LUNA Rides - The Tahoe team has added a bunch of new ride locations to our calendar,  be sure to check out the details!

2. Sunscreen - the sun up here @ elevation is intense but I was horrified to learn that the same goop that I thought was protecting me from skin cancer is also a health hazard! Watch your labels ladies - steer clear from oxybenzone if you don’t already & check out http://www.ewg.org to see if you sunscreen is safe!

3. New Flavors! - LUNA’s new Honey Peanut Pretzel is to die for! I hear they sell them @ Whole Foods - Reno road trip anyone?

See you on the road @ May 8 @ Boca Reservoir!
