Genevieve bought her first mountain bike 15 years ago when she moved to Tahoe after college. She quickly found the sport to be a great way to combine enjoying the outdoors with exercise and bit of excitement. Over the years Genevieve has progressed from casual two hour rides to completing several 100 mile mountain bike races. She also enjoys long distance trail runs and competing in Xterra triathlons. When not on the bike, Genevieve works as a transportation planner for a consulting firm in Tahoe City. Genevieve is looking forward to her first season with the LUNA Chix.
Karolina came to Tahoe from Sweden to spend a year abroad for college. 15 years later she's still here after falling in love with the mountains and all its outdoor activities and beauty. Growing up being exposed to a mixture of outdoor & indoor sports in Sweden, Tahoe has made skiing, hiking & biking a passion and a big part of her life. Karolina started mountain biking about 10 years ago and thanks to the LUNA Chix the last few years mountain biking has become more frequent! Karolina looks forward to joining the LUNA Chix team this year to help get more women involved in the sport and out riding!
After dedicating 7 years of her life to triathlon and Ironman, Kim Larson picked up mountain biking "just for fun" and to help recover from knee surgery. Along the way, she fell in love with the rush of going downhill over steep and rocky terrain. These days you'll likely find Kim fixing a chain on a remote trail, organizing new and exciting Tahoe LUNA Chix events, or just encouraging new riders to challenge themselves in the sport.
Laurie can’t remember when she wasn’t on a bike. From playing bike tag at the elementary school, to road riding all over the Napa Valley; to falling in love with mountain biking in Tahoe after moving to the area twenty six years ago. She still loves a good long road ride, and when not on her bike she loves walking in the woods with her dog. Laurie looks forward to being a new member of the Luna Chix Team this season.
Renee has guided biking tours around the world with Backroads active travel company prior to turning her focus to mountain biking and distance trail running, which are her summertime passions. Renee teaches elementary school in Incline Village, which allows her the daily opportunity to ride and run every day throughout the summer. She has just completed her first two 50K trail races this past year and will soon begin training once again so mountain biking allowing her the opportunity for some great cross training and to just have fun on the trails. Renee has lived in the Lake Tahoe area for well over a decade and has acquired an intimate knowledge of the network of trails this area offers. She believes that even the most technical trails of the Tahoe area are achievable with their gentle encouragement.
Wenche came to Tahoe from Norway and like so many other people fell in love with the beauty of the area. She has been living here for 22 years and although an avid rider before having kids, she has in the last few years reignited her passion for mountain biking. She has been a regular on the Luna rides, and has enjoyed becoming a better rider through them. Wenche enjoys getting out for family bike rides with her husband Erik and her two boys, Markus (14) and Sander (11). In the winter time you will find her on the nordic trails at Tahoe Donner. In the summer she also enjoys trail running with friends. Wenche is excited to be part of the LUNA Chix team this year!
Wendy Lautner is an outdoors woman of all pursuits. While she loves getting dirty on the mountain bike, she's also just as happy washing off in the river with her whitewater kayak. Most recently, Wendy finished her first book - a hiking guidebook - entitled, "Day & Section Hikes on the Pacific Crest Trail Northern California." This is her third season riding with the Tahoe LUNA Chix and she's most excited about connecting with women in the community through cycling and recreation while raising money for the Breast Cancer Fund.
