Team Ride Guidelines
All riders must be at least 18 otherwise a parent MUST sign you in to participate in any LUNA ride or clinic that involves a ride.

Safety is our first priority

Ride within your comfort level

Ride Single file in traffic areas

Ride as if the cars can not see you

Be prepared for the unexpected-ride defensively

Foot down at all stop signs/stop lights. Ride through as a group.

Regroup: at the top of a climb or any turn where you are not able to see the rider behind you.

Mechanicals: Holler out “flat”, stopping, etc. Slowly pull off the road or trail, well out of the path of cars, pedestrians or other cyclists. Everyone stop, help out if you can or take this time to chat, have a LUNA bar, etc. Head out together after mechanical has been resolved.

Always look behind before overtaking another rider & call out “passing on left” as you approach. Never pass on the right.

Use hand signals or words...point out obstacles or bad road surfaces.

Keep a safe distance between riders. When riding with a new group it is a good rule of thumb is to allow 1-2 bike lengths between you the rider in front of you. Even those familiar with riding in groups, should keep a safe distance until you determine the riding style of the group you are with.

If two groups are riding the same route at 2 different paces & someone starts in the faster group & finds it above their ability, they can slow down & wait for the group coming up behind & ride in with them.

Be polite; give a nod, smile or wave to vehicles when they do you a favor!

Remember…….No rider is left behind. We want your riding experience to be fun.

Rain Guidelines:
Unfortunately, we have a lot of rain here in the Pacific Northwest. Our main priorities are safety and fun, so we do cancel our rides if the weather is steady rain. As we know in this area, making a call on what is "steady" can be difficult if it's raining in one part of town but not the other. We will do our best to make the best judgement call in order to provide for a safe and fun ride for everyone.

If it looks like rain, or you are unsure, check on our website and the Yahoo group email list. Any final decision to cancel will be posted to both locations by 5 pm. If you don't see anything in either of these locations, the ride is ON!
If you're unable to receive either of these messages and show up to a canceled ride, there will always be one Chix there to give you the bad news. :(
