Richmond downtown epic ride June 2, 2012 – I am my own worst enemy

Persuaded by Deb’s comment about not seeing me for a long time, I came out to ride the North Bank – Buttermilk – Forest Hill loop last weekend with Richmond LUNA Chix members who are doing the Xterra race.  It was an unseasonably cool June day in Richmond with gorgeous sunshine (i.e. perfect weather).  The trails were in great conditions, I was impressed with the brand new footbridge connecting North Bank to Tredegar parking lot.  We even enjoyed a little “distraction” at the Belle Isle Skill Area.
Deb and Rob (Deb’s hubby) set a good pace (we did 6 plus mile per min!).  It was a fun ride, even though some of us left blood on the trails.  Following behind Audrey, who picked the best line, and Clare, who’s always strong and steady, I could ride through more spots in the JRPS loop than I ever did! ….despite having seen more jet plane runways than single tracks in the last 6 months and never got too far from being a beginner in mtn biking. ….. Yes, I am my worst enemy!  As we parted ways, I thanked my mates for a fabulous time, and told myself I just need to come out and ride!
