Shonny wins 3rd XTERRA of the year!
Avon, CO Shonny Vanlandingham won the XTERRA Mountain Championship off-road triathlon on a beautiful, blue sky day at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado last weekend. She was a couple minutes behind (Suzie Snyder) in the swim, but absolutely crushed the bike portion and came in ahead of Sara Tarkington by over 7 minutes. That makes the third big XTERRA win of the season for the 41 year old mountain biker-turned off-road triathlete LUNA wonder-gal. This race had 3600 ft of climbing on the bike and another 1500 ft. on the run.

“I love high mountain riding,” giggled Vanlandingham after the race as she stood next to her proud dad who rode his motorcycle all the way from Texas to catch the event. “I’ve spent the last 12 years in Durango, and the last four weeks riding up in the mountains so I just felt really good.”

Winning the last race of the U.S. XTERRA Series has given "the Shadow" a nice lead in points going into the National Championship in Ogden, UT.

Not to overshadow Shonny's achievement, but it should be noted that three other LUNA Chix won major events in the same weekend (Georgia- U.S. Nationals, Katerina- Czech Nationals, and Catherine- Canadan Nationals). So this just proves once again the LUNA Chix are a global force to be reckoned with.

The Guinness World Book of Records has been contacted regarding this amazing lining up of the LUNA stars (but they still haven't gotten back to us).
