Nash takes 4th at Cross World Championships in Czech
Katerina Nash and Amy Dombroski finished off the 2009-2010 cyclocross season in fine form with a 4th and 14th respectively. The town of Tabor threw an incredible event, and the enthusiastic crowds propelled the LUNA Chix to fight back through the world class field after icy crashes and adventurous get-offs on the snow-covered course. Katerina Nash was just out of the World Championship medals with her 4th place, 1:20 behind the ultimate winner Marianne Vos.
As Katerina states, "Tabor had the biggest crowd I have ever heard and seen. It was so loud and many were cheering my name in my native language. My husband, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins were out there supporting with posters. It was the greatest race atmosphere I have ever experienced and I was very happy I to made it out there to race in my first cyclocross world championship."
For Nash, the actual race turned into bit of disaster on the first corner, after she made a mistake on an ice patch and crashed. She got up fast and carried on like the true racer she is. In her words, "I chased and chased and went down few more times because I was too eager to make up for my initial mistakes. Crowd was pushing me forward and I wanted to get there but I ran out of time and had to settle for 4th. It was hard to finish below the podium. I cried like a baby."
Amy Dombroski was also happy with her ride, especially after surviving the sub-zero conditions: "The morning and coupla hours leading to and through the race were a rush, and before I knew it I had a glass of wine in my hand thanking everyone for this season's "MEGA-NESS"...
How can you argue with that?
