Prescott, AZ (April 28, 2012) Georgia Gould did it again, winning the Whiskey 50 Fat Tire Criterium in front of “World Cup” sized crowds. Georgia also won two events recently at the Sea Otter Classic, so she's on a tear with visions of Olympics dancing in her helmet.
Fat Tire Criterium:
Teal Stetson Lee was 7th in the crit after getting boxed in, but rode into an amazing 5th place at the cross country. LUNA's other new Pro Suzie Snyder took 10th in the criterium, and 19th in the XC.
According to Gould on Cyclingnews.com, "It was hard. The steepest part isn’t even the worst part. You do that little steep pitch and you think that's the hill that they're talking about. Then you have a little flat and you turn, and it's the long steady pitch that get's you."
She went on to add, "Kelli (Emmett) went to the front early and I was able to get up there with her. We were both riding a steady pace. She was riding strong. We weren't working together because there's nowhere to pull or draft."
Final results for the criterium
1 Georgia Gould
2 Kelli Emmett
3 Pua Mata
4 Judy Freeman
5 Chloe Woodruff
50 mile Cross Country:
Sunday’s event featured a longer than usual 50 miler with 33 top women competing, and resulted with two LUNA Pros on the podium. Georgia again had a strong ride, but hit a rock and flatted four miles from the finish. She was passed by Pua Mata to end up in second place.
Teal Stetson Lee rode well the entire race and ended in a sprint finish for 5th place, her best result and a sweet podium with the LUNA Pro Team.
XTERRA athlete Suzie Snyder spent a large part of her day in ninth place, when she double-flatted four miles from the finish, and finally finished in 19th place.
Pua Mata 1st 3:21:34
Georgia Gould 2nd 0:01:26
Kelli Emmett 3rd 0:07:04

The Luna Pro mountain bikers will take a short rest week before heading to round three of the UCI World Cup in the Czech Republic.
Next race for Suzie Snyder is the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships/Xterra Southeast Championships in Pelham, Alabama on May 19th.
