Georgia Gould Wins Wisconsin US Pro Tour XC!
Wisconsin is known for organizing one of the best mountain bike series in the country and this weekend, hosting a national event for the first time, they didn't disappoint. The course drew rave reviews from riders, many of whom compared it to the World Cup races. This was the 4th round of the US Pro XC Tour of which Georgia came into with the lead. Georgia has been on a tear all season, winning the last three national races and landing on the podium at the World Cup races in Europe. She was the rider to beat.

The women's field was small but fast and after the first lap it was Georgia and Willow Korber (Subaru-Trek) alone at the front. Georgia unfortunately clipped a tree with her handlebars and ended up in the dirt. Not panicking, Georgia was able to slowly close the gap and regain Willow's wheel. The two rode together until the fourth lap when Georgia was finally able to drop Willow and gain valuable seconds. Increasing her lead on the last lap, she rode alone to the finish, winning by almost two minutes. Her victory gives her a comfortable lead heading into the final race in Colorado Springs, CO.

Amy Dombrowski, in only her first year on the LUNA Pro Team, has been gaining valuable experience at these events, trying to figure out the subtleties of not only racing at the pro level, but how to get on the podium. It is a slow process and Amy has definitely been putting in her time. She rode hard, battling the heat and the technical course to finish in 11th. She now sits in 8th overall. A strong ride in Colo Spgs could move her into the top five.

On Sunday the women raced a 20min short track event. Amy has been working on her starts and it showed when she followed Willow's wheel up the first climb. Georgia unfortunately got stuck in traffic and wasn't at the front to respond to the attacks by Kelli Emmett (Giant) and Katie Compton (Planet Bike). A gap opened up and Katie was gone. Georgia's legs were tired from her effort the day before keeping her from powering back up to Katie. At the end of 20 minutes it was Katie with the win, Georgia in second, and Amy just missing the podium in 6th.

Another successful weekend for the LUNA girls! Up next is the Marathon National Championships in Breckenridge, CO over the 4th of July weekend, followed by the XC and STXC National Championships in Sol Vista, CO a week later. Look for Georgia to regain the stars and stripes jersey and for Amy to ride herself onto the podium. Go team!!
