Catharine Pendrel 3rd at Bromont World Cup
It started raining on the second lap of the women's race, turning the Bromont course into a technical muddy mess. With the top women so close, it was the little mistakes that made the difference. Catharine Pendrel, Irina Kalentieva, and Lene Byberg dictated the pace and formed a lead group early on. Catharine tried to initiate the early moves, but wasn't able to drop her two competitors. Later in the race when Lene and Irina upped the pace, Catharine wasn't able to follow. Lene Byberg won, followed by Irina Kalentieva, and then Catharine. Not far behind, Georgia Gould finished in 8th, Katerina Nash in 9th, and Chloe Forsman, in one of her best World Cups, was 24th. The results were good enough to win the Team competition.
Up next for the team is the US Pro XCT event at Mt. Snow, followed a week later by the finals in Windham, NY. Then it is a few weeks at home before flying to Australia for the World Championships, the first weekend of September.
