After I wake in the morning, I feel fantastic AFTER I stretch out, get the blood moving, and focus on my body’s needs.
My basic routine begins with sun salutations and then I spend a lot of time in downward dog and tree pose. These are two of my favorite positions because downward dog stretches out my back and calves- both essential in cycling, and tree pose helps me focus on my balance and breath. Of course, warrior pose is essential too because it’s all about drawing on personal power.
My yoga started with classes for basic instruction, but has really morphed into my own, personal practice. I enjoy it not only because it makes my body feel good and prevents injury, but it is completely about me and my capabilities and what I can push myself to become- similar to my racing career.
Though I have been doing yoga for a number of years, I’ve never had comfortable yoga-specific clothing to give me that extra peace of mind. But now as a PrAna sponsored member of the LUNA Pro Team, I feel lucky!
When I tune in through yoga it allows me to be me in the best possible way. And I want me to be best!
