LUNA CHIX PRO TEAM

Pro Team News from the Road
Cathy Chesky dominates age-groupers, takes 2nd overall in the pros

Sacramento, CA The LUNA Pro Team’s only age-grouper Cathy Chesky won the 50-54 female division at the Tri 4 Real Olympic distance Triathlon in sunny Sacramento, CA recently.  If Cathy raced in the pro category (she should consider turning pro!), she would have taken second place in the women’s division.
According to Chesky, “I had not raced an Olympic distance for quite awhile and decided to race it at the last minute to work on my “speed”.  We “old ladies” started in the last wave of the swim so there were plenty of people to pass on the bike course which was quite motivating.  I felt strong and smooth on my Orbea TT bike.  I had a solid steady run and pressed my speed capacities to the finish.  The first place female was 20 years younger and had started 20 minutes earlier, but only beat me my 90 seconds.  I was happy with my performance and realized that there is a lot less “suffering” in the Olympic distance versus a 70.3 (half-Ironman), not to mention Ironman.  Maybe I need to change my racing schedule!  Next race Vineman 70.3.”
