Pro News from the Road
Coming into Maui this year I must admit I wasn’t quite feeling the same form as a year ago and had been having some on and off workouts, however the week leading into the race I was feeling pretty good and hoping the legs would be there come race day. After a year of ups and downs, I returned to Ironman Hawaii happy and healthy. The conditions were brutal as usual but I finished 10th in the world…not bad! At 3:45am on August 2nd, my alarm went off and I was pretty excited to get out of bed believe it or not. It was a beautiful warm morning in Calgary and I was about to do my first road triathlon, which also happened to be the inaugral Calgary 70.3, originally called a half Ironman, consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1 run While it was snowing back home in Calgary this past Saturday (yes, even in June it can happen!) my family and I were just a 7.5h drive south in ideal race temperatures for the Xterra Northwest Cup in Farragut State Park just north of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. |
