Local News from the Road
We kicked off Season 2!

Last Tuesday, we started the NEW season with NEW teammates, rode out of our NEW location and rode a NEW route!  Yet, riding together felt like old hat.  Did I just age myself with that expression?  Everything ran perfectly for our inaugural ride of the season.  With a great turnout of 8 teammates and 8 participants, the first thing we did was take group pictures while we all did NOT have helmet head.  Next came LUNA Chix’s mission, BCF fundraising, introductions and then the long-awaited distribution of mini LUNA bars in lemon zest, s’mores, peanut butter cookie and white chocolate macademia nut.  Everyone loves LUNA bars.

We started the ride out of our new home base location in Pasadena, the Pasadena Cyclery bike shop, and took a nice tour down quiet residential streets until we entered San Marino.  We rode around the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.  The wide lanes and lightly trafficked streets in San Marino are perfect for riding.  Heading into South Pasadena, we took a few fun side streets and then rode on the infamous Arroyo Parkway.  We turned off just short of the Rose Bowl onto California Blvd. and that gave everyone a chance to experience group riding at its best; sticking together and working as a team riding through some commuter traffic.  We ended the ride before it got dark on the quiet tree-lined street where Pasadena Cyclery is located and had clocked in about an hour of ride time.  In our new location this season, we hope to develop a group of riders who join us regularly so we can all stay active and have fun.
