Becca is originally from Upstate New York, where cycling outdoors is tough for most of the year without snow tires. She started cycling in 2007 after she wrecked her knee running. New to the sport, she was reluctant to wear padded shorts, distrustful of pacelining, resistant to clipping in, and unwilling to buy a road bike. Fast forward a few years, and she's embraced spandex, co-leads the weekly WE Ride in Pasadena, and has been a member of Team LUNA Chix for 3 seasons. In particular, she's a big fan of nighttime riding and has spent many evenings getting lost in LA on her bike. She recently started doing triathlons, which has further confirmed that her running days are pretty much over. Becca is a geology professor and enjoys telling her bike buddies about the rock types past which they are pedaling, whether they want to hear about it or not.
Crystal has always been a bike rider. As a child, the freedom of getting around town on a bike always led to adventures! Then, about four years ago, Crystal made the leap to mountain biking. After about a year of mountain biking, she added a road bike to her arsenal. Crystal enjoys recreational rides with friends, traveling to new places, and meeting new challenges with every stroke of the pedal. Some organized activities Crystal has participated in include cross-country mountain bike racing, cyclocross, and even some centuries!
As an assistant coach for the Crescenta Valley high school mountain biking team, Crystal thoroughly enjoys welcoming newcomers to the sport with support and encouragement. Helping others develop a love of cycling is a passion and a constant endeavor. Team LUNA Chix is an excellent opportunity to welcome more women into this wonderful sport.
When not cycling, Crystal enjoys reading, eating, sleeping, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and an occasional jog.
This is my second season with LUNA Chix, Los Angeles Cycling. I feel privileged to be associated with this great organization, and support the Breast Cancer Fund. I love leading rides, and mentoring women in safe riding techiques, giving them confidence to go out and Ride! I've been cycling for years, I love the feeling of freedom on a bike. and want other women to have the same experience.
Cycling is great exercise for both the body and the mind. It can be me time, or social time with friends. Cyling is an flexible sport, it can be casual or very challenging.
Since a woman can't live on cycling alone, I also run, sail, hike, and on occasion swim.

At age 16, Emily was talked into doing a major cycling adventure from Pensacola, FL to Bloomington, IN (her hometown)... she's found herself stubbornly making a lifestyle of pedaling for transportation, fitness, and thrills, ever since. Emily moved to the Los Angeles area in 2009 and decided she could live with only two wheels. She bought her first "real" (post-1980s) ride and took on the streets of Pasadena for nearly a year before breaking down and getting a hatchback that would accommodate her bike. This is Emily's second year as a Luna Chix, and she's excited for the group rides and reconnecting with new and returning riders.
Jennifer has been a recreational and mostly a lone wolf rider until 2008 when a couple of cyclists chased her down in a park and invited her to ride with them on a newly formed group ride on sundays. It was the spark that fired her up to buy a new bike, learn how to ride in a group and improve her abilities and just plain old have fun with her fellow cyclists. Since then she has participated in many bike tours including the MS Tour and the Volkswagen City of Angels Fun Ride which helped fund raised for the UCLA Hospital/Mattel Childrens Hospitals.
Besides cycling, Jennifer is an avid hiker. In 2010 she became a volunteer blind guide for the "Baldy for the Blind" program (and soon to be film) where blind students were conditioned for four months to the outcome of successfully summiting Mt. Baldy, which boasts a height of 10,068 ft in southern california. She has also helped to condition hikers to summit in a day, Mt. Whitney (14,505ft), the highest peak in the contiguous states. Other outdoor activities include backpacking, snowshoeing, track skiing and yes, she has even tried rock and ice climbing.
Jennifer is excited to be returning to the awesome ladies of LUNA Chix Los Angeles team this year. She is looking forward to mentoring and inspiring new riders in what will be an inviting, encouraging and fun environment.
Jenny discovered cycling in 2008 when she joined a women's ride and fell in love with the sport. Not only has she met some of the most inspiring women but love the passion they instill in promoting women's cycling.
As a recreational cyclist, weekend cycling is one of Jenny's favorite pastimes to hang out with friends. Cycling is a way to see new places from a different perspective. Besides cycling, she's also an avid reader, loves to bake, plays tennis and enjoys wine tasting .
Jenny enjoys participating in local recreational cycling events such as the LA River Ride, Pasadena Marathon Bike Tour, Cool Breeze, City of Angels, and the Firecracker Bike Ride.
Jenny is ecstatic to back as a LUNA Chix for the 3rd season. She had an exciting inaugural season getting started, giving back and helping new participants. It was an awesome experience mentoring new riders into the sport of cycling and Jenny is thrilled to continue it again this year. Jenny is ready to help others integrate cycling into their lives and LUNA Chix Los Angeles will provide an open, encouraging, learning environment for women of all levels.
Sharon has been a member of Team LUNA Chix since 2011 when she started the LA Cycling team. She is even more excited to lead the team this year as all of the rides are located on one side of town, Pasadena, which provides for both teammate and participant consistency. Sharon enjoys mentoring and inspiring women who want to improve in the sport she loves.
Professionally, Sharon has worked in sports for awhile having been Manager of digital marketing and social media for the Nike Women's Marathon, Campaign Manager of the LA Dodgers' charity century bike ride and Outreach Manager of LA Tri Club's Coast 2 Coast Swim Challenge fundraiser. A writer by trade, Sharon has written scripts for live sports events for Nike and before sports writing, she was a staff comedy writer on TV sitcoms for FOX, NBC and Disney.
Sharon's athletic passion is cycling, both mountain and road. She's taken multiple week-long trips to Moab, UT and was a mentor for TNT's road cycling program for 3 years where she led a 16-week training and fundraising program. Sharon has completed multiple century bike rides and rode in LA's inaugural Gran Fondo with 7,000 feet of climbing in 70 miles. To cross-train, Sharon runs and participates in half marathons.
Besides endurance sports, Sharon loves to kickbox, bake decadent desserts and tease kids, both small and large.
2013 is Stephanie's first year on the LUNA CHIX team and she's excited about having an opportunity to inspire other women to experience the joy in cycling that she does.
Stephanie was born and raised in the L.A. area. She's loved riding a bike since a youth, and still feels the same happy feelings when she gets her spin on.
After many biking years on the back of a tandem towing along her two daughters in a burley trailer, they grew up and she moved on to a road bike. She's excited to share her passion for cycling with other women.
