Kick off Trip to the LUNA Chix Summit!
This past weekend, three of the Denver LUNA Chix had the amazing opportunity to head to Berkeley, California to attend the 2012 LUNA Chix Summit! The attendees were: myself (Jenny), and our fantastic nutrition ambassadors Audrey and Ashley.
I arrived on Thursday night so that I could attend New Leader training on Friday. I’ll be joining Andrea as our new co-leader, which is super exciting! While there I got to learn more about the brand, the Breast Cancer Fund, and got a chance to meet some other new leaders and co-leaders, including the brand new team leaders for Austin Run and Boise Triathlon, Melissa and Shannon. They’re both going to do an incredible job. Hooray for the LUNA Chix family’s new additions! That Friday we had a kickoff dinner where got a chance to meet the pros and hear from the Clif (and LUNA) bar founders Kit and Gary. It was truly an inspiring event.
Ashley and Audrey arrived on Friday for the kickoff, and not only did we learn a ton about the Clif family, LUNA, and the Breast Cancer Fund over the weekend, but we also got a chance to get to know each other better, which was an amazing opportunity. I’m so excited that I get to spend the entire season with such fantastic women.
Saturday and Sunday we got a chance to participate in several running clinics. Saturday’s tempo run was held in pouring rain and wind, but it was nothing a group of strong women couldn’t handle (although there was plenty of squealing and screaming as we got started. Nobody’s perfect). We learned a lot about dynamic stretching and injury prevention that I can’t wait to share at our runs this season!
Of course, we also got the opportunity to sample PLENTY of snacks, as LUNA is embracing “the power of positive snacking” with our tasty bars. The new flavor Peanut Honey Pretzel is delicious! Of course, I managed to find every single sample of Blueberry Bliss. Nothing can beat my favorite flavor.
But you know what? It wasn’t all work and learning. We had plenty of opportunities to mingle, mix, and enjoy one another’s company. Here’s one of our unofficial team photos (plus our new friend Michele from Madison Cycling), courtesy of the photo booth that LUNA rented for all of us to play with on Saturday night…
We know, you’re wondering how so many incredibly good looking people fit in one booth. It wasn’t easy.
So as you can tell, we had a blast. Our only regret? That more of our team couldn’t be there! Next year, ladies.
So the season is officially under way, and we’re thrilled. Stay tuned for updates on our team runs, events where we’ll be out cheering and supporting, and our upcoming clinics. We’re excited to meet all of you, and get a chance to share our love of running, wellness, and breast cancer prevention with all you Colorado ladies out there.
Sending some LUNA love to everyone!
