Jody’s Race Memories!

This was our second year setting up shop at Jodi’s Race for Ovarian Cancer Awareness, and boy was it a treat!  The turnout was phenomenal - there were men, women, and children of all ages.  People that visited our tent were interested in more than just our free samples.

Part of what made the race so special was that Audrey Krebs, one of our fellow Chix, ran the event in honor of her mother whom she lost to ovarian cancer.

What made our conversations stand out even more was the fact that so many men came and spoke with us!  One gentleman in particular sticks out in my memory.  He had to be in his late 60s or early 70s.  As I chatted with him and provided him literature on chemicals to avoid in daily activity, he had the largest smile on his face.  When I finished what I was saying, this man sweetly said, “Wow.  Grocery shopping has gotten harder since my wife passed, even though I’m only shopping for me now.  But this can really help me simplify.”

At that moment, I wanted to give this sweet man the biggest hug, not only for the thought of losing a loved one, but also for the fact that he is still supporting Ovarian Cancer Awareness and was so impressed by the information the LUNA Denver Run provided.

It was a great day. smile
