Denver Run TEAM

Are we there yet? How many times have we heard those 4 words before?  Or worse yet, used them ourselves during a long car ride somewhere?  As someone who can’t spend more than 2 hours in the car without feeling antsy I completely understand the desire to just get there.  But in my impatience am I missing out on the journey?

Not everything is a destination and more often than not, we should focus on the daily journey, especially when it comes to life and living a healthy lifestyle.  It is clearly not a single destination point on a map, but rather a way of life.  Living healthy and enjoying life is a journey. 

I am extremely fortunate to be living in Denver, Colorado, a city recently rated as one of the healthiest and active cities in America.  Although I have always been into health, fitness and eating right, it certainly helps to be living in a city blessed with 300 days of sunshine, amazing mountains for skiing, mountain bike riding and fantastic trails for hiking and biking!  All of these things appealed to me in my decision to make the move here 3 years ago from the east coast. 

The change has been great and I love being a resident of Colorado.  One pleasant and unexpected surprise from making this move has been my involvement on the Denver, Luna Chix Team.  I feel extremely fortunate to be involved with this group of like-minded and active women. It has been great to get more involved in my new community, share my enthusiasm of being active and encourage other women to get out there and enjoy the day!  My new Luna Chix friends have been incredibly supportive, enthusiastic and kind in welcoming me and others into our group.  It doesn’t matter how fast or how far, but rather what we’re doing to lead and promote a healthy lifestyle for ourselves, our families and for our communities. 
   
So whether I am meeting the Luna Chix women for a Saturday morning run or meeting friends to climb a 14’ft mountain, it’s about taking care of ourselves and enjoying being active.  It’s about taking time for yourself everyday…..not focusing on the training, but rather making it a part of your daily lifestyle and enjoying the journey.

And lastly….don‘t forget to stop and smell the roses along the way….or in my case, the columbines.
