Last year American cyclocross fans probably wouldn’t have recognized her name.

But this year Maghalie Rochette from Quebec has captured their attention with third place at Rapha Super Cross Gloucester and second at Rochester’s Ellison Park Full Moon Vista event. Now in her third and most consistently successful year of UCI ‘cross competition, the new Luna Pro Team rider also won The Night Weasels Cometh, a big non-UCI event in New England. She’s 21 years-old.

She also lead an XTERRA clinic the day before, to raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund. Kara Lapoint finished 15th in the race and points, and an impressive 7th overall in the XTERRA pro series.
