Friends Don’t Let Friends Be Inactive

It’s not easy to start running and stick to it. In fact, according to the 2011 Runner’s Survey conducted by Running USA, the perceived “hardness” of running is the number-one barrier to becoming a runner among non-runners. We’ve all experienced the difficulty of setting a resolution and seeing it through. The truth is: if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

That’s why the Team LUNA Chix program exists. We are a support group, a team, a family, a network of women here to help you stay active and achieve your goals. We have beginner, intermediate, advanced and even professional athletes and fitness experts in our network, and we’re all here to encourage each other to stay strong, healthy and happy.

Here are 5 quick tips to maintaining an active lifestyle and ways the LUNA Chix can help:

1. Set smart goals.
Goal setting is the natural first step toward goal achievement. It marks the starting point toward success and will help give you clarity and drive to obtain what you ultimately want. Share your goals with a friend or the LUNA Chix to help keep you focused and remain accountable.

2. Find support, join a group or recruit a friend.
Accountability and motivation is much easier when a friend is right beside you. Gain encouragement and learn from others by joining a group or organization. Team LUNA Chix Chicago Run meets every Wednesday at 6:30 at the Universal Sole in Lakeview. Check out our calendar for a full list of all our events and clinics.

3. Create and collect reminders.
Stay motivated and inspired with reminders of your goals and desired lifestyle. Follow the LUNA Chix on Facebook, Twitter or our website, where we share and post images and articles that inspire us.

4. Give yourself incentives.
There are always natural rewards attached to creating a healthier lifestyle, but give yourself smaller, more tangible rewards in the meantime to stay on track.
