Buffalo Run TEAM

Meet the team

Our 4th year running, literally!  We couldn’t be happier to be able to promote such a great program here in Western NY!  What really makes it great are all the awesome women who come out and run with us every week and not only support the team but also help us raise an awful lot of money for the Breast Cancer Fund!  Thank You Western New York!

This is my first season with Team LUNA Chix Buffalo. I am excited to be part of this great group and look foward to running with everyone. I am a "late in life" runner and this past October just completed my first marathon, as well as many 1/2 Marathons over the past several years. Four years ago I could barely run 2 miles, so every day I go out and run I amazed at the distance I am able to cover. I always say, If I can do, anyone can do it! Looking foward to a great season and helping other runners reach their goals. Run Happy!

This is my second season as a run leader for Team LUNA Chix Buffalo Run and I look forward to serving again this season. I've been a runner for about four years, ran a couple of half marathons, the Seneca 7 relay and numerous 5Ks. It's an addiction and I've become a running bore: rattling on about races and chafing and cute skorts and porta-potties to anyone with a pulse. But my most enjoyable experiences have been running with women training for their first 5K. These brave souls (and soles) generously shared their courage and enthusiasm with me. I feel honored and blessed to have helped them on their fitness journey. I hope more women will take their first steps with Team LUNA Chix towards a healthy and positive lifestyle.

It's hard to name all the reasons why I love to run... It keeps me healthy and fit, able to keep up with my active family. It makes me happy. A run can change your day, I always feel better after a run... I have met so many nice people along the way. A run can be challenging. It can also be exciting working towards a goal that has been set. I have been running for nine plus years now, and I have worked up from running 5K races to completing marathons. I have been a run participant with Team Luna Chix for over two seasons and I am so excited to now be a run leader. My mother passed away from breast cancer many years ago. Team Luna Chix and the Breast Cancer Fund have special meaning to me. The benefits I have received from running have been endless. It is best for you to see for yourself what it can bring to you. Come run with us and get your week started off on the right foot! What an awesome way to spend a Monday evening!

I began running 2 years ago with the goal of running a 5K. After finishing a number of 5K's and an 8K, I decided to set a goal to run a 1/2 marathon. After finishing the 1/2, under my goal time, I met up with Luna Chix to continue my running. I am now a run leader and hope to help others met their running goals.

I started running in 2004, prompted by both a free subscription to Runner's World magazine and the desire to add to my kardio-kick and elliptical routine at the gym. I did my first 5k that summer, the Turkey Trot in the fall, and was hooked! My most memorable runs include my first Utica Boilermaker 15k in 2005, the Disney World 1/2 marathon in 2007, and the Nashville 1/2 marathon in 2011. I joined LUNA in 2011 to exercise and socialize with other women and enjoyed it right from the start. It has been wonderful to share training ideas, race plans, and friendships with women who enjoy the sport as much as I do! I look forward to taking on a bigger role in LUNA this year and meeting both new and experienced runners.

My relationship with running began with a flyer I saw on the gym bulletin board: "Come Run with Team LUNA Chix!" Since being able to run a 5k was on my bucket list, I thought "Why not?" That was over 3 years ago. Running doesn't come easy to me, but I've discovered that much to my surprise, I enjoy it. I'm looking forward to my 2nd season as a Team LUNA Chix run leader, and the opportunity to encourage and support other women as we all work to maintain healthy lifestyles.

It's hard to believe our lTeam LUNA Chix group here in the Buffalo area is heading into it's 4th season! I can't say that back in the fall of 2009 when we were first selected for the program that I had any inkling that it would take off as it has or that I'd still be a part of it, but will confess this has had a bit of a 'life of it's own' and I couldn't be happier to be a part of it all these past few years. Perhaps the only downside to all of our success is that it ends up taking a lot more effort than I may have ever expected to give, or maybe it was just a lot more fun and rewarding so no amount of effort seemed enough! But either way, some changes to my job, along with the ebb and flow of our everyday lives made it pretty clear that by the end of last year I was in a bit over my head .. Fortunately we've had enough success to have built a whole network of grateful and talented women who've been eager to step up to the task to keep our Team and runners on track and moving forward. I am extremely grateful to Lisa for stepping up to the task and taking a Co-Leader role with me this year - something we'll all benefit from! I don't think we truly realize the time commitment involved until we sign on so I am equally as thankful for our returning teammates: Gloria & Suzanne; and hope our new members this year- Kate, Denise, Julie & Joyce find it as fun and fulfilling as we all have!! No matter your skill or speed, or as in my case, your 'lack there of!' please don't hesitate to come out and run with us - after all it's our runners who have made our team GREAT! Happy, Healthy Running!!

I'm excited to be back for my 4th season as a participant with the Team LUNA Chix Buffalo Run Team and my 2nd year helping to lead the Team! Throughout my running journey, I have completed many 5ks, a half marathon and various distances in between. My love for running has continued to grow over the years and I look forward to another healthy season of running with the Team! I am grateful for another opportunity to lead my fellow runners and assist them with their running goals.
