Women & Boise inspire me!

LUNA Chix TRI Boise had our second outing which consisted of a 12-15 mile road ride. 7 women joined us to ride along popular Hill Rd. The group who showed up was exactly what LUNA Chix is looking for….a diverse group of women of all levels ready to help each other.  Whether it was a seasoned triathlete with all the bells and whistles or a beginner who didn’t know what size tube she needed, it was all about hanging out and having fun. A gal even had her helmet on backward, but we took care of that with a little laugh and a quick turn of the helmet. smile Its all good because we have all been there. I was so pleased to see our partner, TriTown, open their doors a bit early to help us out. Founder of TriTown, Antonio, was helping with tubes and walking around checking tire pressure. Because it was a no-drop ride, the riders were watched by LUNA and came back at different times, with no one left behind. As I manned the LUNA table, people would drop coins in our Breast Cancer Fund jar. The more memorable, was a little boy on his bike, riding with his family stopped. He was about 3 years old. I gave him a S’mores LUNA bar. As he munched away, he dug deep into his jean pocket to produce 2 quarters and placed them in our Breast Cancer Fund jar. What a kid! Boise is like that you know…a great community with kind people.

As the ladies returned, I noticed they all had smiles on their rosy faces . Yea! As gals dismounted and ate their LUNA bars, there was a nice energy as they met each other. Some even exchanged phone numbers so they could ride together sometime. Women wanted to know about our next outing and excited to be part of LUNA. As I took it all in, I was inspired. This is exactly what my vision was when we started LUNA Chix in Boise.
