Oh where, oh where did that little battery go…

Things to not to say to yourself 5-minutes before you leave for a bike ride:

Why did my pillow taunt me to stay in bed past my alarm this morning?
Technically, cheddar cheese beer bread IS in the “Carb” category…. at 7:30am
Really, there ought to be enough air in the tires from my last bike ride…
Hum. How hot does it have to be to put on sunscreen?
Nah, its only a “short” ride… Do I really need a full water bottle?
Baby spit-up probably makes me look like a faster ride.  Yeah! I’ll go with that one.

That’s basically how this morning went for me, a mommy of a 20-week old baby LUNA Chix. “Lack of sleep” I have been told won’t last forever.  But, most of those ladies were mommies.  Were they graciously fibbing to me to give me hope?

Despite those crazy thoughts above (which didn’t seem all that crazy as I hustled around this morning).... I did put on sunscreen (hurrah for spray-on) and went out to join my fellow LUNA riders for a terrific ride.  Its amazing how just getting moving changes things; even when you don’t know how you’re going to manage one foot in front of the other much less riding a bike.

So, the next time you think oh I am too tired, it’ll take too long to get there, Ugh! I hate traffic, my pillow is holding me hostage, or, insert your typical excuse here that keeps you from getting out to play… Remember this - We all think thoughts like this!  But, if you come any way, you’ll be sooo glad you did.

If you road with us today you would have seen the entrepreneurial youths at work.  Lemonade for sale for just 25 cents from a homemade lemonade stand… Or, two young boys learning about business.  They took a “business loan” from their parents to buy bottled water to sell along a frequently biked road.  Who could resist!  Their mom shared that they plan to give the earnings to charity.  I, of course, plugged the Breast Cancer Fund!

See you at our next event… who knows what you’ll experience!

PS:  For those asking…Oh where, oh where did that little battery go… I found them on the kitchen counter when I got home.  Next ride…batteries for the bike computer. :-D
