Erin completed her first triathlon in August 2008. That same day, she signed up for two more sprint triathlons before the season ended. She has gone on to complete several more sprint and olympic distances as well as the Augusta Ironman 70.3 in 2009. Erin is also the mother of two awesome boys and loves showing them that it is important to have goals and challenge yourself. Katie Cunningham

Katie's passion and excitement for sports all started after she got kicked out of ballet class at the age of 4 for having 'too much energy'! After a 10 year career as a competitive gymnast and a 2 year stint as a competitive diver, Katie found running as a perfect way to stay active, channel extra energy, clear her mind and see the great outdoors. Now 15 years after picking up the sport of running and 3 marathons later, she has expanded into the wild world of triathlon! Last year was the start of a great tri career as Katie completed 2 Half Ironman distances and Ironman Louisville (in 13:34 - not too shabby!!) Katie is excited to start her second year on the Atlanta LUNA Triathlon Team! She hopes to encourage women of all abilities to come out and join the LUNA Chix this season - it will be a ton of fun!!

Lauri Hicks

Lauri is a physician and public health professional who believes in practicing what she preaches. Five years ago she signed up for a triathlon in Rhode Island on a whim. Despite frigid water temperatures, monster waves, and a swim that was more an act of survival than a race, she was hooked. Seeking a new challenge after multiple sprint and olympic-distance races, she completed her first Half Ironman in 2009. Lauri is a multi-tasker who values the idea of racing and training with women while raising money for a very important cause, the Breast Cancer Fund! She encourages you to join Team Luna Chix for a workout or event.

I am a two year breast cancer survivor. I decided that when I finished my cancer treatment I was going to participate in a triathlon. I know that working out has so many benefits. Last year was the first time I participated in two triathlons. I loved training and completing the triathlon. This will be my second triathlon season and I am looking foward to helping the Luna Chix raise money for Breast Cancer! I want to inspire other women to do this too!

Ranney Wiesemann

Ranney grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky competing as a gymnast, tennis player, golfer, swimmer and diver. Ranney also showed Tennessee Walking horses and was the World Grand Champion Equitation rider in the 16 and under division. In 2007, Ranney decided she needed a "challenge" and to mix things up a bit with her workouts. On a whim, she signed up for the 2008 Vineman 70.3 without having raced a single triathlon. She participated in her first (sprint) triathlon in the spring of 2008 as a fundraising effort for ALS. She truly loves the personal challenges each day of training presents as well as the talented and awe-inspiring people she has met along the way. Ranney has done a number of sprint and olympic races along with 3 half ironman distances. One of the few days you won't find her training is on the first Saturday of every May...Derby Day! Ranney's mother is a breast cancer survivor so the Breast Cancer Fund is very near and dear to her heart. Ranney is thrilled to be a new member of Team Luna Chix and is exctied to meet more active women in the area.

Couch potato with no athletic ability started kickboxing for cardio last year to loose weight. A co-worker suggested I sign up for a sprint triathlon in 2009. First time on a road bike I wobbled mostly and banged up my knees pretty good from falling. I still do the panic dogie paddle in the water and sheer will gets me through the runs. Three sprint Triathlons, One Olympic, and a Half Iron man later I still cant believe I cross the finish line. Inspiring other woman to conquer their fears and obtain their goals is my passion. The biggest lesson I learned is your body is inherently lazy but your body is never tired if your mind does not tire.

Sarah Bell

Sarah did her first triathlon in 2004 and it was love at first race. Although race day conditions were terrible, the swim was cancelled due to rough surf, 25 mph winds gusts on the bike and and constant rain, she finished the race with a smile that she will never forget. Sarah has completed in sprint, Olympic and half iron distances and will be competing in Ironman Coeur d'Alene in 2010. When not training or racing, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and resting. Sarah is inspired by the amazing people around her to continue to challenge her limits but mostly to have fun.
